by DTU.
TORQUE 2010 aims at providing a comprehensive survey of the state of art in the field of Wind Energy and provide the opportunity
to scientists and engineers from industry, research establishments and universities to present their new results, to exchange ideas
and experience, and discuss directions of future research towards the long term objective of making Wind Energy the 1st choice for
future energy plants.
TORQUE 2010 will cover all aspects related to making torque from wind, starting from basic research topics and going up to examples
of applications on engineering problems. Also of particular interest is experimental work supporting and complementing the progress
of theory and simulations at all levels. Therefore it is addressed to all members of the scientific wind energy community from the
academic and industrial sector.

EAWE summer School from 17-19 May 2010 in Pamplona,
Spain hosted by CENER
We cordially invite you to participate at the EAWE Summer School
from 17-19 May 2010 in Pamplona, Spain, hosted by CENER. The
EAWE has organized this Summer School for all PhD researchers on
wind energy related topics in their first years. Most PhD researchers
specialize in a particular area, without having time and opportunity
to take care of the interdisciplinary aspects of their topic. To facilitate
this, the Summer School offers introductory courses on almost
all aspects of wind energy, with the objective to provide the researchers
a general background on wind energy. This Summer School is organized
together with the Marie Curie ITN project Wind Resource Assessment
Audit and Standardization (WAUDIT). The WAUDIT part of the school
specializes on aspects of meteorology and wind resource
assessment. The EAWE part is open for all PhD researchers, the
WAUDIT part is for the PhD’s in this project. If you are a PhD researcher
on this topic but outside WAUDIT, and you are interested to
attend this part too, you can contact the WAUDIT coordinator, Javier
Sanz Rodrigo, jsrodrigo@cener.com.

CISM-Course Environmental Wind Engineering and Wind Energy Structures
Udine, Italy, 14th - 18th September, 2009
Udine, Italy, 14th - 18th September, 2009
EAWE-member Prof. Peter Schaumann, head of the Institute for Steel Construction, Leibniz Universität Hannover, announces the course "Environmental Wind Engineering and Wind Energy Structures" of the International Centre For Mechanical Sciences CISM. This course will take place from 14th to 18th September 2009 at CISM in Udine, Italy.
This advanced professional training course addresses the positive and negative effects of wind on buildings and the urban environment and the design of wind energy structures. The design of wind energy structures requires special reliability assessment. Experimental and computational approaches will be presented and case studies will be analyzed in order to make the participants familiar with the uncertainties involved and the design methodologies currently available. This course will be of interest to doctoral students, junior and senior researchers, practicing engineers, architects and other design professionals, who work on relevant scientific research or design topics in research centers, universities, industry and government agencies. The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft supports financially those German post-graduate students and early-stage-researchers for participation in this training course.
